Send a Running Late Message to Meeting Guests

Running late for your upcoming meeting? No worries, we’ve all been there. Scoop’s Running Late feature helps you cut out all of the back and forth and easily notify all meeting guests at once in a group Slack message of how late you’ll be.

Slack

Send a Running Late message with Meeting Workflows in the Scoop Slack app by following the steps below.

  1. From the 15-minute reminder notification, select the Notify you're running late button

  2. Then from the ephemeral message, choose one of the options from our pre-populated messages to inform meeting guests

  3. We'll automatically notify guests in the same channel about the anticipated delay

Mobile

To send a Running Late message within the Scoop mobile app:

  1. Open the Scoop mobile app

  2. Under Highlights, you’ll see your upcoming or in-progress meeting

  3. Tap into the dropdown menu at the bottom of the meeting card to select one of our pre-populated messages then select Send

Live Activity and Meeting Activity notifications

To send a Running Late message from Live Activity notifications (for iOS):

  1. Select the notification at the top of the Home Screen

  2. Then tap Send running late message

  3. You can then select one of our pre-populated messages to notify meeting guests in Slack

To send a Running Late message from Meeting Activity notifications (for Android):

  1. Tap the notification in your notification bar, then expand it by clicking the arrow located in the upper right corner of the notification

  2. You can then select one of our pre-populated messages to notify meeting guests in Slack

After sending the message, Scoop will automatically inform guests in the assigned meeting channel.

If Meeting Workflows are disabled for this meeting, Scoop will create a group DM in Slack with all meeting guests informing them of how late you will be and for which meeting.

✍️ Note: First-time users who do not have Meeting Workflows enabled will need to confirm they acknowledge Scoop will send a group Slack DM on your behalf to all meeting guests. Don’t worry, you’ll only need to do this once.

FAQs

How are Running Late messages delivered?

If Meeting Workflows are enabled for your meeting, all guests will be automatically notified in the designated Slack channel of your Running Late message.

If Meeting Workflows are not enabled, Scoop will send a Slack DM on your behalf to all meeting guests. DMs can only be sent for meetings with 8 or fewer attendees.

What if one or more of the meeting guests don’t have Slack?

If one of your meeting guests’ does not have Slack installed, we will not include them in the group message.

What if my upcoming calendar event does not include guests?

If your in-progress or upcoming calendar event is a personal event or does not include guests, we won’t offer the Running Late option.
